Background Check Application
TO MANAGERS, COACHES AND PARENTS:
Babe Ruth League has teamed up with SportsEngine to help us keep kids safe with an advanced and streamlined safety program. Now that we have successfully transitioned to this new system, it’s time for all managers, coaches, and volunteers to complete their comprehensive background screening and abuse prevention training.
Completion is mandatory for all managers and top two assistants per league rules.
Please refer to the league website for further information on the safety program requirements, or go directly to them to access the safety program and complete the required steps. Link at top of page
Of course, since we are in Pennsylvania, things are more complicated. You must complete the steps below so you will have these documents available for upload when you go to SportsEngine.
The background check is good for 2 years. The cost for SportsEngine is $ 25.50. If this is a hardship for you, please contact me and we can work something out. Fred (fredstag@comcast.net).
Outside background checks or Sexual abuse certification are not accepted. Sorry but not our rule.
How the process works.

Select Your Name

Click - 2023 Coach Membership
Click - Continue to payment.
Click “Continue to Mysportsengine button”
It went direct to my SportsEngine Background account and displayed if I complied or had to reapply. My background check and Abuse Prevention had expired.
- Click Abuse Prevention Systems - This is a course, give yourself an hour if this is your first time. Since I had passed this course in the past I was allowed to go directly to a 25 question test. Save your certificate in a .PDF as you will need it later for loading.
- Chick Background Screening - if you have a completed PA background check it must be within the last two years to be accepted by the system. Three steps below
Pennsylvania ONLY – these three forms must be completed and saved on your PC as they will have to be uploaded as a PDF’s when you create your Sports Engine background check account.
- 1.Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearances (CY113). Child Welfare Information Solution (CWIS) self-service portal (complete an individual form) Background check - if you have a completed PA background check it must be within the last two years to be accepted by the system
2.Load you Abuse Certificate from the on-line course.(.pdf from step one)
3.Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check or Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers. The witness signature can be anyone and does not have to be stamped.
You will be asked to add your Background check, Sexual abuse check and Discloser statement as .pdf attachments.
You will have three pages of acknowledgement that a national background check will be completed.
5) At the conclusion of the background screen, you will be prompted to complete payment ($25.50) *there are no codes to enter at checkout as Hilltop does not have a PIN.
