TO  MANAGERS, COACHES AND PARENTS:

Babe Ruth League has teamed up with SportsEngine to help us keep kids safe with an advanced and streamlined safety program. Now that we have successfully transitioned to this new system, it’s time for all managers, coaches, and volunteers to complete their comprehensive background screening and abuse prevention training.

Completion is mandatory for all  managers and top two assistants per league rules.

Of course, since we are in Pennsylvania, things are more complicated. You must complete the steps below so you will have these documents available for upload when you go to SportsEngine. 

The background check is good for 2 years. The cost for SportsEngine is $ 25.50. If this is a hardship for you, please contact me and we can work something out.  Fred (fredstag@comcast.net).

Outside background checks or Sexual abuse certification are not accepted.  Sorry but not our rule.

How the process works. 

Enter the SportsEngine Membership site for Hilltop by clicking this link or copy and pasting into your browser

2. Select Your Name
3. Select Coach
4. Click NEXT
5. Select All Season: Non-Florida Resident (All States Besides Florida)
6. Click NEXT
7. Select 2024-25 Coach Membership
8. Click NEXT
9. Review the screen and click CONTINUE TO PAYMENT
10. Next click the CONTINUE TO MYSPORTSENGINE button to submit your documents.

From the Memberships screen, click the link for 2024-25 Coach Membership

1. You'll need to complete the Abuse Prevention Systems and Background Screening.  The Coaching Education Certification is not required.
   1. The Abuse Prevention Systems requirement is an online course.  Give yourself an hour if this is your first time.  If you've previously passed, you will be allowed to go directly to a 25 question test. Save your certificate in a .PDF as you will need it later for loading.
2. The Background Screening is multiple steps
   1. When prompted for a League Name, enter Hilltop Babe Ruth League/Haverford Township
   2. Select Yes that you are in PA
   3. You will need to submit three forms
      1. PA Child Abuse History Clearance | Department of Human Services | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
         1. This is Free unless you've completed one in the past 57 months.  In that case, it is $13.
      2. Criminal Background Check | Department of Human Services | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
         1. This is Free as a Volunteer
      3. The FBI Disclosure Statement

   4. Click CONTINUE 

You will have three pages of acknowledgement that a national background check will be completed.

At the conclusion of the background screen, you will be prompted to complete payment ($25.50) *there are no codes to enter at checkout as Hilltop does not have a PIN.​​​​​​​
